Colombian Women’s Life Patterns: A Multivariate Density Regression Approach

نویسندگان

چکیده

Women in Colombia face difficulties related to the patriarchal traits of their societies and well-known conflict afflicting country since 1948. In this critical context, our aim is study relationship between baseline socio-demographic factors variables associated fertility, partnership patterns, work activity. To best exploit explanatory structure, we propose a Bayesian multivariate density regression model, which can accommodate mixed responses with censored, constrained, binary traits. The flexible nature models allows for nonlinear functions non-standard features errors, such as asymmetry or multi-modality. model has interpretable covariate-dependent weights constructed through normalization, allowing combinations categorical continuous covariates. Computational inference are overcome an adaptive truncation algorithm combining Metropolis-Hastings sequential Monte Carlo create sequence automatically truncated posterior mixtures. For on Colombian women’s life variety quantities visualised described, particular, findings highlight detrimental impact family violence choices behaviors.

ESTIMATING DRYING SHRINKAGE OF CONCRETE USING A MULTIVARIATE ADAPTIVE REGRESSION SPLINES APPROACH

In the present study, the multivariate adaptive regression splines (MARS) technique is employed to estimate the drying shrinkage of concrete. To this purpose, a very big database (RILEM Data Bank) from different experimental studies is used. Several effective parameters such as the age of onset of shrinkage measurement, age at start of drying, the ratio of the volume of the sample on its drying...

Multivariate Density Estimation: a Support Vector Machine Approach

A Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm for multivariate density estimation is developed based on regularization principles and bounds on the convergence of empirical distribution functions. The algorithm is compared to Gaussian Mixture Models (GMMs). Our algorithm outperforms GMMs for data drawn from mixtures of gaussians in IR 2 and IR 6. Our algorithm is also automated with respect to param...

Density, habitat use, anD ranging patterns of reD howler monkeys in a colombian anDean forest

We studied habitat use and ranging patterns of five red howler monkey troops for six months in a lower montane forest in the Colombian Andes. The study area is a mosaic of mature and secondary forest and non-commercial ash, pine and oak plantations that were established as part of a reforestation program. Home ranges (10 ± 3 ha) and daily distances traveled (554 ± 248 m) were similar to those r...

A Bayesian Approach to Bandwidth Selection for Multivariate Kernel Regression with an Application to State- Price Density Estimation

Multivariate kernel regression is an important tool for investigating the relationship between a response and a set of explanatory variables. It is generally accepted that the performance of a kernel regression estimator largely depends on the choice of bandwidth rather than the kernel function. This nonparametric technique has been employed in a number of empirical studies including the state-...
